The Plumage

She was a slender, lean creature of the north. An aerial predator, the narrow form was better suited for roaming the air than the land or water, with owlish clawed feet made for grasping and not for running. Hooked black claws emerged out of the thick, curled feathers, the quills of which emerged from the ridges of shelved dragon scales hidden beneath the gossamer strands. White feathers dominated her lower half; belly, legs, the unders of the wings. It was topped with coal black across the tail, the back of the wings, her spine, neck and head, midlined by a gull-like grey. Bright orange and gold not unlike the puffin or penguin splashed her sparingly, lighting up an otherwise bleak coloration with dazzling flares.

Long, feathered ears sprouted from the almost doglike head, the muzzle of which was flanked by a beaklike structure covering the curved fangs beneath. The tongue that curled out of her jaws in a dark grey was textured like a cats, spines set in a row and angled to a point together for dual purposes; grooming and straightening feathers, and getting the most out of her meals. While unable to easily swim, her body is well built to diving at the surface of water, with hydrophobic feathers that allow water to simply roll off the waxy surfaces. With a horn too narrow to easily allow typical dramatic dragon horns, instead a ridge of spines travels the center of her skull as protection against attack.

A low, rich, and exotic voice rolled from her throat in a pleasing manner, carrying a sharpness to it that hinted at a fairly adventurous female with a positive attitude. Elegant, swanlike eyes were usually narrowed into an alluring smile, acting in a feminine manner without devolving into a youthful exuberance. Usually. She smelled of sea salt and pine needles, rich and healthy, and her body ran warm under the feathers, despite the obvious frosty capabilities. Her breath weapon crystallized humidity into frost, and could gout in blasts of supercooled freezing air, able to create snow and ice as easily as warm hands could melt it back into water.
